When I bought my first 74 Formula 455 back in 1975, it didn’t have a spoiler (see sig photo). I wanted to add one back then. Now that I own that car’s twin from the same dealership, I am very conflicted. I love the look of the spoiler on a Formula, because like others have said, it balances out the twin front scoops on the hood. Hard decision. Still on the fence.
The fact that the two cars are both non-spoiler makes me want to leave this one that way...or do I say here’s your chance for a re-do? By the way, sorry for the rabbit trail in your thread. I Love your car and the way the spoiler looks on it. I say change the column shift too. Go 4-Speed. BJ

Mine didn't come with a spoiler and I have been leaving it that way for originality. I do like the look of spoilers but as others have stated, then it looks like a Trans Am. I have had friends say the back looks plain but the front end makes up for it.
To each their own though, the cars are yours so if you want to add a spoiler add it, if you don't like them then don't. Car looks great and good job on the spoiler!!

This is one of those times you can have it both ways.
Get another deck lid! You have to paint the spoiler anyways so just add a lid. They can’t be that hard to find. They made them from 70-81 and the Camaro one is the same. |

umm, you seem to be forgetting the holes required in the quarter panel

I was able to locate excellent used horns, thus getting them to function properly. I was able to access the bolts through the market lamp cutout.

I went with the Year One Honeycombs with M/T tires. The cost of everything was almost the same as if I went with the Coker Firestone Wide Oval radials, and kept the Rally II's. I was able to get the car state safety inspected, and then put 50 miles on it. It ran and drove great.

I had some Admiralty blue single stage enamel left over, so I painted the area's I am working on. I also happened across a 1973 454 Stingray during this morning's cruise. I'm headed to Carlisle next week hoping to bring home a nice drivers fender.

Thanks, Rick. I have the car running excellent. I have a couple of hundred miles on it, and everything is working like it should.
I did some research, and found something interesting for those of us with the neutral interior color. Corvettes in 1974-75 used the same light neutral (cream)color that Pontiac used in 1973. I verified the color match using PPG paint code sheets. Corvette Central sells the dye in either quart cans or aerosol. As for the midnight neutral(greenish brown) color, I have not located a source for that yet.

Just adding another possible 2 cents worth.
You could get cloth interior in a 74 F-Body with deluxe interior, also. Hard to remember if it was exact color as 73 - but probably so. I inspected a 74 SD TA Dark Blue with cloth interior in the late 80's. Mint condition well kept car. It was the first one (and still the only 74) i had seen with that cloth interior, in person. Only seen about 4 - 1973 models with that interior. 2 were Brewster Green SD Automatics. 1 Brew 455 TA Auto and your Formula. Glad the Vette people have some stuff available for you. |

I installed Fairchild Industries outer door belt strips. They seem to be the closest to GM available. The felts are properly riveted to the strips, and they fit great. They were under $50 a pair.

My factory Delco AM/FM radio will be here soon. Of course, the bonehead that owned my car cut the factory radio harness, but fortunately spared the dash and left the rear support bracket in place... Does anyone have these connectors with a few inches of wire that they would like to part with?

I received the radio, advertised as pulled from a 1975. I was surprised that it was the coveted AM/FM red dot stereo instead of the mono. The decal on the radio chassis was MIA. After locating the special connector, and a couple of hours of lubricating and cleaning the radio, and adjusting the flip dial, it fired up and played flawlessly. I have more work to do before installation, such as recoloring the needle, and detailing the pushbuttons.

Nice work on the radio. I have that same red dot stereo in my 74 Formula and with two new, correct speakers, it sounds great!

Thank you. The original rear speaker was included with the car, and works well since it was in a box since 1977. The front speaker will need to be tested. More to come..
