Default 66 Dash veneer finish

I ordered and received a 66 dash wood veneer stained from Ames. I presumed it was finished ready to install, but instructions says it needs finished. What finish should I use so the sun doesn't attack it being it is in my convertible. Thanks for any help

I used Watco Danish oil. Looks nice, easy to apply and moisturizes the wood to keep it from drying out.

Default 66 dash veneer

Does the Watco Danish oil have to be reapplied periodically? How often does this typically have to be done?

I've had mine on about 8 years and it could use another coat.

Maybe I have been lucky but my veneer has been on over 20 yrs & I have never touched it. Looks as good as new.

Default ‘66 Real Wood

My 55 year old dash wood veneer is in a hardtop and still looking like new.

I occasionally “lightly” apply Scott’s Liquid Gold wood cleaner & preservative to keep it fresh.

CLUELESS again.

This thread is talking about the 1966 GTO “Real Wood” dash panel insert.

The 1967 insert picture in post #10 is VINYL. Duh.

The "Duh" is that they were identical in finish.

Posting a sun beat photo with all kinds of chemicals and ground in dirt on it not only changes the color, its baseless.

Now, stick your "duh" where the sun don't shine.

Most of your comments are misleading, such as your ‘67 Vinyl insert compared to a ‘66 Wood insert.

Go back to the lobby and do what your good at.

Just because you play Pied Piper on PY and have a few Minions believe you does not make you the self-professed expert you think you are. You buy your cars done or tweak them a bit (still calling them original) just like many NCRS pompous people.

Please, enlighten me, did you work the assembly line when these cars were new? I know I personally have over a 1/4 million dollars of NOS Pontiac parts as well as the GM/PMD parts books that have proven you wrong in the past. Tell me, where did you get your self-professed expertise because I'm just not seeing it? What I do see out of you is a lot of, "look at me.... look what I got".

There is no way in hell the '67 Vinyl insert looks anywhere near the same as the ‘66 Wood insert. Even the colors are different.
