Plausible

You would need to look at the trim tag to see if there is a paint code and if there is, what the paint code is.

Remember, we were still at that point in time in the automotive buying world where you could pretty much order what you want.

I have never seen one but if it were special order it would be 1 of very few, therefore very few would see it.

I've seen pictures of one. Also a few with white vinyl.

The car offered here, however, comes with a special level of distinction as one of the few that came in the outrageously bright Plum Mist paint, a one-year-only color better known by its Chevrolet name, Royal Plum. This hardtop is equipped with a white vinyl top, matched white body pinstripe and whitewall tires. Inside is the cream-colored parchment upholstery.

I have a two tone 67 GTO Originally Signet Gold and Cameo painted top with Parchment interior. It is a 400 HO (YZ) post coupe.

I know the car pictured. It was done locally to me and by the same paint shop that did my car. It was purchased as a barn find at Mecum several years ago and then frame off restored. I spoke with the owner who restored it and inspected that car personally. Very well done and owner said he did the wheels in Plum Mist even though not correct to add some pop. If my memory serves me it did have the correct codes on trim tag.

The owner has also done other high level restorations on Pontiacs. He recently had a Goldenrod Yellow 69 Firebird 400 with PHS documented Ram Air hood inlet.

I figured that one in the picture above was a vinyl top.
I have seen several two tone paint 67 GTO's but not plum with white painted top.

I have friends who have 67 two tone paint GTOs, red/white painted top, silver/black painted top.

Will get trim tag picture tomorrow.

Wow, my first GTO was white and the painted gold top, gold interior, 4 speed car

Have never seen another, the painted tops must have been pretty rare overall

Then again the white painted top plum mist here is the 1st I have seen also

Default The Before

The data plate should say M-1 on this ‘67.

Looks like maybe an HO car. Air cleaner, exhaust manifold and positive battery cable routing.

Nice emergency brake handle for a restored car

Watch out for speed bumps with this exhaust.

Default Pretty car but,

This car looks like it was thrown together for this photo shoot.

Left rear 1/4 rocker moulding is a 66.
Left front park light is one wire mesh square to low.
No wiper arms.
No antenna.

I believe those were corrected by the time it made it back to Mecum a couple of years ago. There is a 69 RAIV Expresso Brown car discussed here that had its photo shoot done without the motor installed. Everyone was commenting on why the car sat so high in front, a lot of "builders" scramble to complete a car in time for auction. The photo shoots are done months ahead in time to make the press for the mail outs they do.

My 67 is a two tone HO automatic post coupe. No definite production number on two tone cars. However we do know how many 67s were post coupes and how many HO automatic cars were built of total production. If you apply the percentage of the total HO automatics to the number of post coupes you come up with less than 300 post coupe HO automatic cars. My car also is loaded with options ps, pb, Am-Fm, reverb, A/C, saf-t-track, remote mirror, deluxe seat belts, Rally I wheels, SR glass, door edge guards, underhood and trunk light, etc. All documented on the PHS and still on the car.

No ashtray, no 4 way hazard button, clear window crank knobs, backwards battery, backwards ram air tub, the main engine components were painted, and then it was assembled with bare hardware. Except the alternator nut, they painted that blue. Alt bracket in front of alt, no plugs in RH inner fender (where a six cylinder batt tray might go), missing the rubber a-arm shields...

What pictures are you seeing? The car I personally inspected is not what you are describing. It was an HO and did not have RA tub etc. I have restored GTOAA concourse winning GTO none of what you described was anywhere near the Plum Mist car I saw. Just wondering if we are looking at the same pictures posted in the thread.

Thanks. Now I see what you are talking about. I saw the car at the actual auction several weeks after those pictures were taken. It did not have the RA pan on it. I think the body shop prepped the car quickly for photo shoot as it did not look like that when I saw it. The guy who owned it knows Pontiacs better than that.

In 2015 I came across a Plum Mist GTO with a Cameo Ivory top.

Trim codes
MC
224-B

It was, however, painted some kind of Burgundy/maroon color, and was hot rodded up a little bit.

It was on ebay.
