A real player has to step up and so far has not.

This is why I left the Pontiac world -- lots of talk and ideas -- very little production ------ if your going to do it - do it , if not don't tell everyone that the latest and greatest is around the corner -- and never shows up .

Not speculation. I know something about it. Not going to speak for John though.
If done it would be the baddest Pontiac head ever done by far IMO. Finally a head as good as the other guys high end stuff.
If people would get off "it does not look like a Pontiac" things might change. Then pony up.

Baddest by far? That might be a stretch.

Saying "Baddest by far" is a bold statement. I dont agree. I am not doubting JMs skills, but there are some very fast combos out there. So where would you see the possible new head as a contender? N/A or power adder or both. Tiger heads seem to be the baddest Or maybe the Visners. An arguement could be made either way.

Maybe, since they never have been built. I am just paraphrasing here in this so take it for what it is.
I called John to touch base on finishing a intake. Asked about the heads. No one has went all in yet.
This is a little bit I was told. His 440ish sbc has a set of the best canted valve small block heads in existence. "with" 40 hours of welding and doing what he does. It makes like 1240 HP and turns 10K. And pulls over 20" of vacuum at idle WITH no V pump, sick, just sick.
The Pontiac heads would be like them but better in a area or two simply because they are larger so there is more room to do what needs to get done.
Put them on a 565 Pontiac, 125ci larger than the 1240HP sbc and you would have something now. But it would be made to spin 9-10K. Dry sump and all that.
People do not want to deal with a big fat valve cover on a Pontiac too. I say do it, put enough of them out there and it becomes normal.
That said I am rooting for you to blow away NA and boosted Pontiac power records. Luv Dave's work.
Too many Pontiac guys are stuck in the past. The billet heads out there are very expensive too. Not for me but for guys that can afford it and risk spinning their engines more power to them.

The question is where are they legal to run N/A?

Asking the wrong guy Stan. I don't keep up on that stuff.
About all I am going to say on them. Just wish a big dog would step up and get it done.
John is as good as they get. Lucky he even gives the Pontiac world the time of day. No money in it.

He doesn't have any finished heads to test?
Just his ideas?

Several options out there on good heads. Lesser people with deep pockets.

Don't forget the dumb Ram Air V that's been 3.81 in the 1/8, 5.87 in the Quarter and just a touch over 250 MPH with a giant push rod tube right through the middle of the intake port that can't possibly work.

NA is the truth. So far no NA RAV head has gone past Leech's old bathtub E head. You know, they ones done by that guy.
The Tiger 2 head, a very wise man said it had a 1300HP intake port and a 800HP exhaust port.
I just would like to see a true high end, high RPM head for our old engines.
Looks like 3 fast has the best shot with current heads. A nice car out there flogging Dave's heads will be very interesting.

So when (if) this magical head appears how will it be determined that it’s the best head out there?

Using 7 different Wallace Racing calculators and taking the average, our Ram Air V based engine was making 5.836 HP per Inch Boosted on Nitro. Doesn't say much meaningful as far as HP potential NA, but does prove how tough and durable the basic Pontiac engine design is.
