Window Fuzzies
After a day of trying to make worthless cheap useless not even close to fitting worth a crap PUI door fuzzies on my '65 I'm wondering if anyone has found a brand that fit's half decent.
In my 25 years of repop parts for AMC, Ford, Mopar and now Pontiac these are the worst made garbage I've ever experienced, it's like they didn't even try. |

same problem, my windows don't roll all the way up because the PUI fuzzies are too thick and stop the window frame. They don't look good either when installed, but that could be my fault since I installed them. There was a previous thread about a new source but I'm not sure if it got anywhere.

It wasn't your fault, it was the chinaman who made them and PUI for selling them.
I'm thinking a mopar E body set might be the way to go they're rigid and thinner just cut them down to fit. Mopar didn't use clips they used screws, but since the PUI ones clips are in the wrong place what difference does it make. |

Try Restoration Specialties. They manufacture the Top Catwiskers brand. According to their 2011 catalog, the P/N for a '65 GTO HT is 201211. List price is $110.00. I used their brand for my '65 Chrysler 300 'vert and they were perfect.

Great, some cut up tires will be an improvement over PUI.
Any idea when they will be available? |

We are about at the window fuzzy stage and we have the PUI ones. Guess we have another hangup on getting this car done.
The 64 antenna is on a forever back order too. |

65mark it's the outers that vare the real joke. the inners are bad because some of the clips don't line up with the holes, but you can live with it. the outers just bend around like a wet noodle and still manage to fit nothing. like has been said I had trouble getting my windows to roll all the way up as well, they're too fat a flimsy and catch the window hardware as it tops out.
with enough effort they will get you by until something better comes up but you're not going to be happy. |

I don't like doing things twice. Do it right the first time and you don't have to worry about it. Almost every repop part we have bought has some problems. The taillights were great, the console (2nd one) is good. The carpet is crap but usable after making alterations. The list goes on. I guess we should be thankful that some of the Chevy parts interchange (almost) or we wouldn't have anything for our Pontiacs. And to think, the best repop (the taillights) are done by a Mopar guy, what's up with that?

It's been a long time, but for the outers, I never used the repros. I would buy the weatherstrip in long 'sticks' from a local upholstery shop and make my own. They had the steel reinforced cord but of course no clips, but they were so rigid you didn't need any clips. I just glued them and used the screws that came out of the old ones. You do have to peel the little chrome edge off the rounded edge and it's a perfect match to OEM.

I don't think any of the rinky dink shops around here have anything like this but I can see.
Yes it's Peter Gee repoping some of this stuff and most of the time the quality is good to better than NOS. he is mainly mopar and AMC because there's no competition but I'm finding Pontiac is almost worse, PG classic may have found another void. |

The thicker bottom edge can be trimmed off with a razor knife , cut it right below the clip.

Beware of STEELE RUBBER PRODUCTS.
I and a body and paint friend installed door weather strips on my 69 GTO just 2 weeks ago. The doors wouldn't close after. wtf? I wrote to SRP and told them my story. Seems back in December 2011,there was a problem in production and the seals were made fatter. They knew this but never chased down customers that bought the seals. Yes they did replace at no charge, but I installed Soft Seals instead just to be safe.[they fit].

If clips on the inners do not align in holes , elongate the holes in doors with a Dremel & a bit , or file the hole open . Have a outer new set of 4 if need them only , also just 2 outers if needed . On the they can be glued in addition to the tangs with 3M black weath. adhesive .

Talked to owner of R.S.at spring Carlisle. More on the rear window seals for the post car. But He said they took or bought PUI or at least the Door upper seals. No date mention of dates . But He said they know of the issues and are correcting them on the A body stuff.
