Had the round & round with RS on my 64 beltlines , no luck with him as his set in wrong as well . I have a original set in excellent orig. cond. for the non post doors to compare to he was not interested . He sent me his set that he said he personally removed from a 64 that he used to make up the new set & was way off , probably from a 64 chevelle. Good luck as i waited on RS for 6 months , PUI is a loss as well .

What about a company called Re-Pops? I have buddy who bought a set for a 66 Mustang, and they fit very well. And better yet, they actually wipe the windows. I called him and he said Clark industries, Inc. Phone 501-767-1111. His packaging says "Re-Pops" America's Most Excellent Reproductions. Then the Clark Ind, Inc. Good luck.

Are the 64 and 65 the same door fuzzies?
Is there only one company that is making them? What about metro? I will be looking at this purchas come spring. |

'64 and '65 are the same. They are opposite '66 and '67 cars, which have the rubber on the outside and the fuzzy on the inside. I did the ones on my '67 20 years ago with parts from Year One. The first set wouldn't even work, the second one had to be blacksmithed to fit. Totally inferior to the oem ones, which I should have left on the car and re-dyed. My '65 still has its original fuzzies, and they're staying. (They're in decent shape..not perfect, but far better than any repro's I've seen!) I enjoy being able to roll my windows up all the way. What a concept!

So only one supplier of these things?
Anyone have pics of the doors? Mine are missing so I don't even have something to compare it to. |

So do the 64s get a different weather stripping kit then the 65s? I think I'm more confused then ever.
Any pics out there for the 64s? Like I said I don't have any to compare them to. |

I have some I took off a 64 2 door post Tempest. They would be the same style as your 64 convertible, but not the same lengths. Also 64 TC convertibles would not use the same outside strips as a 64 Lemans convertible. The Lemans has belt line molding and the 64 TC does not. I think the inside would be the same though. I can post some pics next week.

I would assume then that only the GTO style would be available from the aftermarket. I will look forward to the pictures. |

The Lemans outer attach to the reveal moldings. Tempests don't have those moldings so they clip onto the door. 64 Tempest window sweeps have a stainless steel bead. The PUI sweeps I bought for my Tempest fit perfect and have the bead but slightly smaller diameter than the originals.

Here are pics of the new PUI next to the originals. Notice on the rear quarter sweeps there are ones with 4 clips and ones with 5 clips. The ones with five clips go on the inside. The ones with 4 clips go on the outside and ARE NOT interchangeable left to right. Other than the diameter of the bead which is smaller by about .015" - .020" (varies on where you measure the originals) I think this PUI set is pretty darn good. Even the originals are off 1/4" here and there for the length when installed. Click on pics for full size.

An ebay search turned up these 64 belt sweeps. #321015987085. Also was checking out the repro belt mldgs and was wondering if these are with rubber sweep lips and how they fit?

War eagle, I took a chance and bought those ebay sweeps. They're Repops brand. I haven't spent much time with them yet, but they did seem to have the same thick bead on the bottom of the outer sweep that PUI has. I hope to put some time in with them over the holidays. I'll post up some comments when I've got more detail.

Door Sweeps
The outer sweeps at the rear are provided with a 'positioner' that maintains the glass in the proper position, not allowing it to bind against the rubber sweep. I have seen plastic, 2" x 1/2" x 1/8" with a 1/16 in. protrusion, giving a total thickness of 3/16", riveted to the sweep. I have also seen a single 7/8" x 9/16" x 3/16" fiber pad, stapled to the sweep. Can't recall if the differences are model application or vendor. Do the reproductions have these 'positioners'? I didn't think they did, but improvements may have been made in the repro's. I have not seen these positioners used on the quarter sweeps. |

The repops I have don't have positioner. I was going to drill them out and rivet them back in.

OK, I've spent some more time with the window sweeps. Repops on the top, PUI on the bottom. You can see from the photos that the Repops have the slide blocks riveted on correctly and thick rubber pad glued on the front of the front inners. Unfortunately, the Repops have the same thick bead along the bottom edge of the inner and outer.
