Pypes Violator vs. Hooker Aero Chamber
Hi!
I'm wondering how the Aero Chambers would sound on my GTO compared to the Violators I have at the moment. I really like the sound of the Violators, but they are kind of loud and I would like to try something that is a little less noisy (still powerfull) and maybe a little deeper sounding. Also wondering if they flow good enough for my 462cui with about 500hp. (I'll go with 2.5" dual) Any ideas? Chris |

I have a few video with Aero chambers in 2 1/2 and 3 in on my Ventura. Engine is a 455 6X heads, Crower 60919 cam.
Long branch manifolds and 2 1/2 exhaust and no X-pipe, https://youtu.be/pUM9uhVicNA Hooker headers, 3 in exhaust with X-pipe https://youtu.be/z_pQviGPQSg Same 455 but with 197 heads, HO manifolds, 2 1/2 exhaust with X-pipe and Summit #632501 mufflers (Magnaflow knockoff). https://youtu.be/eOg3KG1d_lk |

I had a SBC Camaro on the chassis dyno a couple years ago. It has 3" Aerochambers on it. The car had some issues, but it still put over 400hp to the wheels.
I liked how they sounded. I'm considering them to eventually replace the RacePros on my Cutlass.

if the violators are too loud i would suggest going to race pros or dynomax ultra-flo, both are straight through for performance & quieter than violators.

Aerochambers, 2 1/2 duals with H-pipe, tri-y headers and a 461 with iron heads.. i have no idea about the compression or cam in it.
https://youtu.be/lCV75wWe6lA Same block but with regular headers and flowmasters dumping at the rear axle https://youtu.be/3FFBgGdZwgU The full exhaust and aerochambers made it a lot less noisy

462, KRE D's 3 Tube Hedman's, 2.5" Pypes X with Violators.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiIoMZAdpWs The Violators are loud, certainly not for the faint of heart.

Thanks a lot! I want a deep tone.. loud is okay, but not too loud.
Anyone has Magnaflows on his Pontiac? Just to compare them.. they are easy to get where I am but I guess they don't sound like a muscle car should?! (too modern in my opinion.. but there is no one around that has them on it so I cannot tell for sure) |

If you’re looking for a deep traditional muscle car tone you’ll want either a non-crossover system or an h pipe. Pick a chambered muffler like a flowmaster 40 or something like a dynomax super turbo. Those will provide that traditional muscle car sound.
Anything with a straight through design and an x pipe is going to provide what you might consider a modern tone. I hear people say it sounds like a NASCAR.

I just installed a 2.5" magnaflow x pipe twin muffler system on my firebird 400. The mufflers are 14" I believe. Idle is quiet and low, muffled sound with out the chamber muffler hollow or high pitch sound. At cruise it is quieter as well and thank god no mind numbing drone like the flow master thunder america muffler. It is far from quiet during hard acceleration, maybe even louder than flow master exhaust. It comes down to personal preference, but for me, the drone had to go.

I had Aerochambers on my 69 GTO but now I have 14" AP Exhaust Xlerators and they sound great with x crossover and 2.5" pipes.

Always feels like exhaust questions are like asking what your favorite color is my gto originally came with 2.5 magnaflows with X and a 450hp engine and headers.
I always felt it was louder under light acceleration than I wanted, and was somewhat irritating to me. Not obnoxious, but I only wanted that much noise when hammering it! Installed the 14" dynomax super turbo was was much happier. I never did try the above setup with the 600hp combo, which went to the 3" setup with ultraflows. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
