Default Taillight housing color

I was wondering if anyone has any idea what color the taillight housing should be on a 1968 Firebird ? Mine are a kind of a spatter paint & other assorted color mix from a bad prime & trunk paint job the previous owner did. I re did the trunk & now I would like to get the housings close to OEM, if possible.

If they are finished like the '67 Tempest Lemans,
I believe they would just be natural/raw metal.

With any we re-do they just go in the same box for cleaning,
then we hit them with Satin Clear.
Of course they always sported some trunk splatter over-spray on assembled cars.

Not exactly. They actually look like a carburetor.

That looks just like the 66 GTO taillight housings. Same gold chromate type of finish they put on carburetors.

Interesting can't say I've even seen or at least taken notice of this.
That would be somewhat hard to re-create.
Didn't / Don't they have a simulated carb color coat in a bomb?
Might be able to lay out on a thin coat to simulate??
Just thinking out load.

Just ordered Carb Renew paint from Eastwoods. I'm thinking of trying a very light mist coat over a white prime base, to start with. I'll let everyone know how it turns out. After the holidays. ( per the wife) Everyone have a great holiday ! be back soon...

It would probably be better over the bare aluminum.
