From what I understand from 35 years in the hobby, these cars were always "special. tell me Chris, did the owners know what these were when they sold them to you?

Do you think of anything else Gary?
 The guy who owned the red T-Top Formula knew what it was but I think gave me a low value on it - one briefly showed up on e-bay this week in the 50k range and was getting bids. The owner of the white car knew what it was but had been beaten so badly by non buying bidders on e-bay that when I contacted him a few weeks after the end of the auction he was ready to let it go - cheaply as well. The owner of the blue race car had no idea at all and likely never will.
