I'm thinking that dash looks familiar and the truck?

That certainly is your old dash on your truck Lyn. Finally going to install that and the other pieces/parts you sold me a year (or two) ago.

BW-ST10 with the Hurst CC Plus shifter (handle needs to be changes to the bench seat one yet) firmly attached and ready to go while the 455HO is waiting for the RA exhaust manifolds and clutch assembly to be installed and then its time to go in the car...finally!

I finally got a chance to work on the GT-37 a little bit today and swapped in the proper 455 style A-body frame brackets. Its weird how they mount higher and overhang the front edge of the crossmember.

I also started the dash removal process after removing the steering column. I'll be fixing little things as I go along with installing a new heater core to be on the safe side. Tons of little parts, screws, and wiring to remember where the all go...taking pictures of everything.

Hi Mike...No, I just have been busy shifting gears to the '70 Tempest's new engine build, work, and the Pure Stock Drags planning and aftermath. The GT-37 will be getting more attention in the upcoming weeks and will continue with the interior dash replacement and engine/trans install.

Did you ever find any more photo's from the past?

I also have to get a complete Pypes 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust system for the GT yet. I should have bought a system at the GTOAA Nats or Norwalk and saved 10% and shipping...wasn't thinking that far ahead.

I see Pypes has a system they call "High-Tuck" that sets the mufflers a couple inches higher than the standard system...anyone ever use on of these? Otherwise, I'll go with the regular system.

I just used one on my brother's 1970 LeMans and it is a great system. Tucks up nice without anything hanging low. This is behind Doug's headers and has an X crossover.

Thanks AG...What mufflers did you use? I'm wondering if I can get the High-Tuck kit with the 18" Race Pros and the GTO/GT-37 tailpipes for the cut-out valance. On the Pypes website they list the SGA20 High-Tuck system as a generic A-body system, so probably OK for non-GTO/GT-37 A-bodies.

I got the system w/o mufflers and bought Dynomax ST 20" long. The system is pretty mild even behind the 530 Hp 455.

AG, thanks for the info on the mufflers.

I haven't been able to put any quality time on the GT-37 in the past few weeks, but hopefully soon.

I was hoping to get the 20" STs for my car but Dynomax told me they start restricting power at 376hp. I ended up with the Ultras which sound great but drone. AG has your brother taken his car to the track?

OCMDGTO - I found that the X-pipe helped the drone when running the Dynomax Ultraflo's (which the Race Pro's are designed after). The 20 ST's may work OK for my engine build since it won't be over 376 hp.

The dash came out with the help of Dan and Scott yesterday (my lucky day). Scott needed to see an A-body AC dash and the GT-37 was still together, so he came over and tore the rest of it out to better understand how the factory did a few things. Next to come out is the rest of the AC system (from a GP) under the hood and firewall.

There is a bit of surface rust on the gauge cluster due to its time spent in Illinois ('80 - '88?), but all the wiring/vacuum lines looked great and everything was there except the radio and speaker.

Looks good! Scott & your brother have it tag teamed.
No seats & no shifter is the only way I'll pull or install cumbersome molded dashes, ESP really nice ones. Only time i've ever chipped the leading edge of an uncracked 25+ year old molded dash asm, had no help to guide it out, & not thinking, didn't pull the auto shifter which had the shifter knob off. Sure enough the center edge of the dash found that small steel piece & chipped the leading edge

Getting ready to reinstall the fresh dash asm, prefer to have a loaded original dash laying on big table, as the example dash. Packing blankets on the PingPong table work really well.

Roger, Yeah, they made quick work of it and had it out in 5 minutes! It would have taken me an afternoon by myself. It proved to me it is a 2-man job. We are definitely reinstalling as a complete assembly, just like the way it came out. I have to remember to install new bulbs in the instrument cluster before it goes back together (LED's?).

When I owned my 1972 400/4 Speed Lemans Sport Conv., I dreaded working on anything to do with the dash. It has to be one of the most difficult dashes to service that I ever have seen.

No, strictly a street car with a 4 spd and convertible.
