Thanks, Bob. The black car is staying. I have secured nearby storage space for the police car, so both birds can nest together.

I was finally able to meet up with the owner of the Formula 455 to complete the transaction. No big surprises here. About 2 hours of removing junk from the car, and changing out all 4 wheels, and it was on it's 3 mile voyage to my place after it's 25 year slumber in the same garage.

The worst rot is in the lower passengers rear quarter. Due to a very poor collision repair, the drivers front fender is junk. The hood is damn near perfect, and doesn't seem to be bowed.

I was able to remove the non-existent battery tray, and replace it with a high quality AMD unit. The vintage PA plate was the battery tray. I also replaced the battery cables with NOS Delco units.
Next is to pull the distributor, change the oil, pre-oil the engine, clean the fuel system, replace plugs/wires/points, then see if this 455 is a good unit.

Eagerly waiting to hear how it goes. I Hope it starts up easily. Sometimes you have to troubleshoot the reason why it was parked in the first place.

Well, I made some progress with the Formula. I changed the oil and filter, bought a new Delco battery, pulled the distributor, preoiled, changed out the points with NOS.
I then hooked up the fuel supply to a small 2 gal. can. Not suprisingly, the 455 came to life, and ran well. No smoke, noise, and 80 psi of cold oil pressure. The carb responded well, with no hesistation or poor idle. Unfortunately the TH400 did absolutely nothing. The fluid appeared slightly low on the dipstick, but it wasn't burnt looking or smelling. I will add a bit of fluid to see if it will engage. Otherwise, this might be the reason the car was parked originally.

Does the distributor still have the shield for the points?

No. The previous owner removed them when he put a cheap set of uniset points in it. I have a pair of shields that will now go in the distributor after I put this and a NOS D409 rotor in it.

Cool car! I always liked those unique interiors with the cloth inserts. The color combo on this car is sweet!
I was gonna say, I'd change it to a floor shift, but you already have that covered. lol

This is the aforementioned shield that is normally discarded when the car had it's points replaced.
