Default Dome light replacement options?

Hello, I have a 1970 Firebird, and have had issues with keeping a dome lamp bulb in place, as well as the dome lamp bulb getting very hot. The two tabs that retain the bulb are just flat metal tabs. The bulbs I have found are pointed cones on the ends, which does not positively retain the bulb. After losing multiple bulbs that fell out, I want to know if anybody has just ditched the factory bulb setup and installed a different socket with an LED? Seeing that it is all hidden behind the lens, I would think that this would be pretty simple to do. Has anybody done this? Or any advice on how to make the factory setup work better?

Somebody put a dime light from an early ‘60’s big car in mine. (A round one.)

My point is - maybe you’re putting the wrong bulb in - perhaps you have a different dome light, too?

After looking at pictures of replacement parts, it looks like my car has the wrong terminals installed. I'll get the correct ones, that should take care of my issues. Thank you!
