From whom to purchase best reproduction 1969 Trans Am hood?
I have an fiberglass 1969 Trans Am hood on My 1969 Firebird that i purchased in 1980s. Shortly afterwards, I disassembled a 400 hood and grafted the Trans Am skin to the 400 hood frame so that I could operate it with the hood latch and springs. Being that it was my first attempt, I had the hood resting top side down to dry.
To make a long story short, it would never sit level with the cowl no matter how I adjusted it - even without the springs. I would like to know who has the best fitting hood and the best fitting scoops to complete it? I was just looking at Firebird Central for $539 for hood. Then there is restoration performance Center (Dynacorn) at $481.95, Summit Racing at $524.99, and Parts geek at $462.12, etc... Are they all made by one manufacturer and sold by each of the named vendors ? I would like to know which source has the best fitting for the cost. Probably important to know which one ships the best so that it doesn't arrive damaged. My 1980s fiberglass hood arrived at the speed shop with the corner smashed. The Speed Shop guy said, "It's fiberglass and you can fix it." |

1969 Friebird TA Hood
I appreciate the help from those of you who have experience with those hoods.
I now have to decide between full exhaust system or the hood. There are so many things that I want to buy but it sure is difficult to choose when I have that finite amount of money in my hands. The more you want - the less you have Thanks again for the help. -----Kevin |

My grand dad always said everyone had the same problem with money... we all have half what they want and twice what we need.
