Default 8 lug drum paint color

One of the famous talk about ...
what color the 8 lugs (65-68) are painted factory? At my first 8 lug set I used black gloss VHT engine paint ..works fine all the years ..
But which kind of black they were factory..flat black ..satin or gloss black ?
The drums re medium sand blasted and the fins polished with fine steel wooll ..can’t wait to finish

What kind of paint do you use .. ?

Thx for any advice,)

Krylon semi-gloss black worked for me, and lasting. That epoxy stuff is bad stuff for health reasons, but that article is 24 yrs. old

Certainly, you wouldn't want to spray it without proper personal protection equipment, but DP90 is very durable.

Default 8 lug brakes paint

That’s true ..EP Primer is great but it’s only for max 70-80 degrees heat resistant..
at my first 8 lug set I used VHT gloss black engine paint ..that’s still looking great after 12 years now but VHT products are not longer available in Germany for private person because environment...

Now my local professional car paint store offers me 1K black primer heat resistant for motor cycle engine paint and 2K satin black heat resistant up to 180 degrees C .. I will try that .. I’m sure satin black finish will work fine ..
Last pre work before painting today ...

Why not regular automotive paint? Your black car sits in the 100 degree sun for days on end probably getting up to close to 200 degree surface temp. People paint their engines with colour match auto paint

I would use the thinnest stuff possible. Maybe some of this new water based paint. They don't get hot enough to warrant hi temp paint, I've used all kinds of paint thru the years and I live in a very hilly area and get them very hot! My favorite is no paint at all with a polishing..

Those wheels are so beautiful....
