I have standard 67 gto with base 335 hp engine with stock manifolds. I am considering buying a 2.5" Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust system. Specs say install on headers on back. What do I need to do to attach to my stock manifolds. Car is automatic and has stock 2" pipes.

I would strongly consider getting an exhaust system that is designed to mate to the stock manifolds. The other choice is to get a set of headers.

The only other alternative I can think of involves having someone custom bend manifold pipes to meet up at the header junction on the flowmaster system, which would be a royal pain and hard to find a shop that would do that.

Since there are bolt in, manifold to tailpipe systems available, going with one of these is your best bet.

Any good exhaust system suggestions to match up with my factory manifolds?

Do like I did.

Check for local shops that will mandrel-bend Aluminized pipe. Have the fella make the headpipes from 2.5" aluminized pipe.

Have the headpipes welded to the muffler inlets if you like.

Cost-effective and will last very long rust-free.

All the exhausts I have ever had have been custom bent by an exhaust shop to fit, usually around 300 bucks for aluminized, which is a tad more expensive than ordering a kit, but better quality than the cheaper kits and it will fit better. Make sure you specify very specifically that you want 2.5" pipe.

I unfortunately do not have experience to recommend a do it yourself kit, other than noting seeing them in resto catalogues and speed shop catalogues.

Try Torque Technologies in Georgia. They have headpipes to fit HO manifolds and custom fit 2.5 and 3 inch exhaust systems. Mandrel bent and aluminized. They may have headpipes for standard manifolds as well.
