So put in a new repop Glove Box light in 1971 GTO. Light works fine but door doesnt close tight enough to turn light off. Any solutions or similar problem experienced by others?

Have same switch in a 65 glove box which works fine.

i put a small rubber nipple on the stem of the plunger. put my phone in the glove box on video to make sure it went off barely shut and fully shut. lot of battery drain issues if this stays on.

some generic piece of whatever i found in my garage LOL maybe lowes or a hardware store near you would have something in the bin of miracles as i call it.

The piece of metal the switch mounts to can be bent. I bent it out just a little bit and it shut the light off.

I thought mine was doing the same thing. Closer look showed the plunger stem was pushing sideways due to slop in receptacle. I put double sided tape on a small washer over top of plunger to receptacle to help guide it straight as it pushed in and all is good.

Update - Issue solved

Bent the tab on the side of the glovebox out a bit and moved the latch hook at the top of the glove box back a hair to pull door in more

Problem appears to be solved. Plunger did not seem to have any excess play but will keep the washer in mind for future reference.
