Default 1970 M 20 trans markings

Im looking through the GTO Restoration Guide. It says the partial vin number of the car was stamped in 2 areas on the right side of the case and on the left top of the case in much bigger numbers. Can someone please shed some light on this subject and verify locations for me. Thank you for your help.

Mine is clean and disassembled not quite there for assembly yet but close
I will look at the part tonight
I know there is a about 1" piece of alum case that sandwiches between the other 2 case parts
Mine has the vin number on that
the same as your block vin number
one of the things important to me to verify numbers matching
I will get a pick and post tommorrow

Default M21 trans

Great. And look to see if the serial number is also stamped on the top of the case. Right above the ear that bolts it to the bell housing on the drivers side
Thank you Dan

Different assembly plants stamped the partial VIN in different locations...

Most Muncie's were stamped in one location, the right side rear or the top but not both...

Hope this helps... Crash
