Question chevy 396 into 66 tempest

Would Installing a bbc 396 with th350 use same parts as 66 chevelle? I know to move the clamshells wondering about headers clearances ect?

Yes, it would use exactly the same parts as if you were putting it into a Chevelle.

Sell the 396 and get a 400 455. The Pontiac guys would be happier and so would the chevy guys.

I wish... I have the 480hp 396 built and ready... a 455 and a transmission built would cost 6-8k.. could probably get 5k for the 396 and trying to do my 65 gto makes money a issue. Also on a fixed income (disabled)

found a running Bonneville with auto and 4bbl 428 for 800.00 looks like a Pontiac motor might be in the ventura future after all.... transmission has a loooong tail shaft, not sure what that is all about?

That sounds like a deal. It would be easier to get the short tail 400.

That's strange! I could swear my old 67 GTO had a foil sticker on the pass door that read GM mark of excellence. Maybe I got it confused with a camaro?

Maybe trade the 428 to someone with a special car for a 400 or 455?
I like the idea of helping someone with a original 428 car... they are kinda rare methinks.
