PonPon,
If you look in Big Pontiac's for sale I've got an '88 with a WELL built 400/TH400 just looking for a swap project like yours, right down to the Firebird headers. You could probably even use a majority of the 2 1/2" dual exhaust. Check it out and let me know if your interested... Price is getting more negotiable all the time.

You know it's easy to put a Pontiac engine in that 4 link camaro too? The 400 Pontiac with the kre d ports was easy to put in my Vega. and with a 9.36 @ 144 best on pump gas isn't too bad at 2700 lbs in my opinion.

To late, I have a 30 over 454 already being built with eagle race crank, h beams, AFR heads, 1050 dominator and what not. Should be around 700 horse. Wondering whether to use alcohol or not. Not familiar with alcohol at all though.

It's not in the car so it's not too late. As for alky, I would say it's a lot more work and money, for some performance gain. The big issue with alky is getting the engine temps high enough if you are running aluminum heads and rods. You will have to run a smaller cooling system to get to a nominal 180 degrees for best life from aluminum rods.
