60 heads won't have the distribution tubes for reverse cooling, you'll have to swap them out from your 59 heads to make them work.

Silverball, I have a set of 1959 heads. 531395. I have never had them checked over at a machine shop. But they appear to be in good shape. They came with a 1960 4 bolt block, that I needed, but I have 60 heads, so I don't need the 59 heads. I can get some pictures tomorrow. I will sell them for $75.00 + shipping. They do have a modification that I can see. Some one has put larger rocker arm studs in each head. They are the same size as the stock rocker arm studs at the bottom where they are pressed in the head, but they don't taper down at the top like the stock studs. Same width top to bottom. Also they are pinned in place like the early super duty heads were. A small hole was drilled through the cyl head stud boss into the rocker arm stud and a small pin was pressed in to keep the stud from pulling out. Let me know if your interested. Jack

Just wondering if the stock rockers would still fit or would i have to find rockers and maybe pushrods for these heads?

Hello Silverball, Here are some pictures of the 59 heads and a 1960 head with the stock rocker arm studs. The 59 heads are the heads with the valves and valve springs in each picture. The 1960 head does not have any valves or valve springs. The only stock rocker arm and rocker arm ball, that I can find today, are 1958's, I used the same rocker arm and rocker arm ball in each photo. You can see the pinned oversized studs, and the 58 arm and ball slide over the oversized stud with no problem. I can't think of a reason that you would need different push rods. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in here. The only part you would need IMHO is the rocker arm nut.
Silverball, I can't upload my photos, send me your email address and I'll send them to you, (I resized the photos to 640x480, but it won't upload them, can anyone help me?) |

Silverball, I will get the photos to you today. Yesterday, I bought a 3/8 x 24 nut at the hardware store, It fits. After a google search this is what I found.
This is from Rockauto. This is a list of cars that use a 3/8 x 24 rocker arm nuts. The price was $0.52 each. Silverball, there is another post currently, about drilled rocker arm studs with a hole in them to lube the rocker arms. The studs in my heads are drilled, with the oil hole. Maybe someone on this board can help answer this question. Jack |
