Hey, thanks. The grey one is my daily driver so it sees the road everyday. The red Tempest Custom is on blocks now while she gets a makeover. These are my first cars and they sure are a love/hate relationship...

Oh, I gotta get in on this thread! I'm still enjoying the pics posted here, but wanted to add mine even before I'm done reading!

Before I bought this driver, I was thinking I might make a GTO clone. Now that I have my LeMans, I LOVE it and don't want to make it in to anything else. I do have many plans for it and already have a garage full of upgrades to make the 350 go a bit better (Qjet, cam, Th350 to name a few). But overall, I love this car! I just lucked into the year, and now have grown to like this year best (only year ever with crank vent windows to name one).

Anyway, I've always liked Pontiacs. Had a 72 GP with a Tri-Power many years ago. Now, after a 20 year rest, I'm back, baby!

Default NICE!!!!!!

Adam, sweet ride!!

Really clean ride you got there.
I like the extra touches, hood and spoiler, rims.
I bet you get lots of kudos on this.
Hope you've got seatbelts in the rear for the kids. Mine were missing when I bought it. Got some nice 4 point harnesses in there now. Kids like cruising but it is a bit windy back there for them. Sunglasses are a must as they help keep the wind out of their eyes as well as the sun.

Good luck with your awesome Pontiac!!

Howard

Thanks! Yes, I get a LOT of nice remarks. And I too really like those exact touches (bought it that way). My kids love the lap belts in the back. My wife isn't as thrilled. I have the 4 pt car seat in it for my 3 year old. And yes, sunglasses help iwth the dirt in the eye. I'm amazed how little wind the car has at highway speeds. But I'm in the front seat! lol

I'd love to see more pics of this one. I'm also very interested in anything that made it a 350 HO. Meaning, engine pics, any markings or other things.

Thanks!

Dennis,
Was there ANYTHING at all that denoted your car as a HO? I know you have the 350 emblem on the lower trim behind the front tires, but was there anything else? engine sticker on air cleaner? HO badge somewhere? Anything?

Also, do you have any pics of that engine bay?

Was it single snorkel over a Qjet?

Inquiring minds NEED to know! Thanks ;-)

I've been gathering good data on this option. The Hero, as it was called from Pontiac. Can you confirm if it came with chrome or painted valve covers from the factory?

Any more pics you can post or email me of the 68 HO ragtop would be GREAT!

Love it! But I'm biased.

Would like to see the stripe too.

Sorry AdamIsAdam, I must have lost track of this post and did not see your question.
Back then did not realize the 350 HO thing was a big deal, but now I realize that car was rarer than my Judge I have now.

It did not have any real give a way's besides the casting numbers on the heads. I did not even realize it was an HO car until I threw a timing chain and bent some valves (imagine that) and had the engine rebuilt. The engine rebuilder told me about the 350 HO option it had. The valve covers were painted and I put chrome one's on it, again not really knowing what I had, now a days I would have left it alone. It did have the dual snorkel air cleaner with the chrome lid and thought it should have had the valve covers to match. The car was so original and clean I really think it had to of came with that air cleaner, but it was the mid 80's and approaching a 20 year old car, so wouldn't have been out of the question if someone put a GTO air cleaner on it.

For whatever reason, I don't think there were any pic's of it under the hood. If I had any, I can't find them now. I was not a big picture taker back then. Not as convenient as now a days with the digital technology.
