[QUOTE=wim firebird;5673488]AEZ Bimmer rims front 18x9 with Michelins PS2 255x40/18 rears 18x10 with PS2 295x35/18
Questions. Did you mini tub the rear? What are the offsets of front and rear rims, any rubbing issues?

Nice! What rims are those? Kind of look like ones Dave at PTFB recommended that I cannot find my notes on.

Here is what I finally ended up with for my 1965 GTO. Wheels are American Racing Hopster Chrome 17" wheels. The front are 17x7 with 4.75" backspace and Kumho Solus TA71 215/55/17 tires. American Racing recommended 4.5"BS with these tires and wheels on this car and then I increased that by .25" for front disc brakes. Since my engine has a lot lot of aluminum I cut one full coil off of stock MOGG 5244 front coils (stock 4 speed with A/C springs).
The rear are 17x8 with 5.75"BS and Kumho Solus TA71 245/50/17 tires. American Racing recommended 5"BS with these wheels and tires on this car. I then increased that by 1/2" for a later model rearend (wider) and 1/4" for disc brakes. The rear coils are original MOGG for a 1965 GTO convertible (I believe they are 5237 but am not sure). The shocks are KYB Gas-A-Just shocks and I am running the stock upper and lower A arms in the front with boxed lower arms in the rear. The front sway bar is 1 1/8" and I added a 7/8" rear sway bar and the frame reinforcement braces in the rear. The steering gear box was rebuilt with quick ratio gears out of an IROC-Z. Dale

recently added 15" eliminators - 7s and 8s - and wide oval redlines. F70 fronts, G70 rears.

I've got 215/60x15 BFG's on there mounted on Cragar S/S 15x7 with 4" BS. My question is this: If Carl's 4.75" BS wheel with 215's doesn't rub but my 225's with 4" BS does, what size tire should I change to in order to alleviate the rub? Is 215/70 going to clear? I wanted 205/70 but it doesn't look like they make that size so I'd have to change brands I guess, but I like the BFG RWL look. They also make 215/65 but I think I'll need to go down to 205. Not sure. And I don't mind raising up the front a bit since my rake it more severe than I like now. Rears are 275x50.

So, there are factory 14 and 15 inch rallye II wheels,
Are there 16 and 17 inch aftermarket ones? I plan on going to 15s and not stagger on the 70 GTO, I hate how these cars look with 18s. Any good profile pictures of a 70 with the 16 or 17s?

Do you really think it's numbers matching all original?" |

I have a 66 GTO I am doing a frame off restoration of and and getting ready to start putting the suspension and such back on the frame. I am going the restomod-ish route with after market control arms and disc brake conversion all around. I am putting in springs with a 1" drop all around due to the aluminum LS motor going in. My brake conversion spindles are stock ride height and I am planning on running 15 x 7 rally II wheels with a 4 in back space, to make it look somewhat stock. My question is regarding tires. Looking at sizes is really confusing, would 235/60- 15 work or is that too wide? Any help would be appreciated.

Jegs Sport Torque's 17x8 with 235/45R17's all the way around, stock spindles, front and rear QA1 coilovers. Crappy pic, but I am dealing with a brake issue and havent had the car out much this year as I have been troubleshooting that....
