I was wondering what size piping i should run for my car's exhaust

400 ci

13 heads
hedman 1 3/4 headers
xe274h cam
RPM manifold
750 carb
9.5-10 :1 compression

Flow path cross section = (volume of one cylinder) x (torque peak) / 88200

Looks like your combo that you listed with the cam, heads and comp. ratio should have you in the 400hp range. Assuming thats right, it looks like the 2.5" pipes would be the best choice. If you start pushing 500hp or more, then the 3" pipes would be better. You don't want to oversize your pipes and loose too much back pressure. There is always a happy medium and 400hp is right in the range for 2.5" pipes. Performance Years sells the Pypes systems with x-pipes that are supposed to be great systems.
