Nunzi has went deep 8's with iron round ports. And a little Astre driven by Bert Straus ( may have mis spelled that name) out of Canada in the early mid 70's in Pro Stock did 8's, but the heads were very modified.

It all depends on weight & chassis.
A 2400 lb car with irons heads IS gonna be faster then a 3700lb car with the same combo. Not trying to be a smarta$$ but...... what is this topic going to prove? Just curious. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Jim Y has been faster or as fast N/A with factory iron D-Ports then any round port iron headed N/A door car? |

Dude had a set of d ports on my firebird that david butler did with a 462 @ 2450 the car went 8.62 @ 154. So you can go fast any way you want! It dosent matter how fast you go as long as you can do it 10 times a day thats all that matters!Whys is weight always a issue with you give it a break. we all just want to go fast and have a good time. PONTIACS are what matters lets keep them going fast! thanks jack

Well, nobody said anything about NITRO... Didn't Arnie win the NHRA F/C class with iron heads? (RA V)... Argh! Argh! Humor... Just wanted to think outside the "box"... Or maybe some of you guys have gone faster in resent years, than he went way back then? I wish I could remember the ET, but it seems like it was in the low 7s or high 6s.

The purpose of this post was to let guys who run iron round ports to voice their accomplishments. I personally have used round ports since the early 90's. Oh just to clear things up JC wouldn't no a collapsed piston if it hit him in the fore-head. Have a nice Day

Although i feel funny talking about my Old 92 Pontiac Super stocker , but with a Quadrajet carb with Stock Super Duty heads with a Old Warrior manifold with Stock Compression, with a Rossler 400 trans,4:71 rear gears with a 14.5 radial Mickey Thompson tire and vp11 gas. weighing 3270 lbs I did luck out with fairly good air at Pomona went a 9:79 ET at 136.65 mph. I have spend a whole boatload of money to do this and don;t recommend anyone to spend as much money i have testing all the time LOL at myself
