Does anyone remanufacture the mufflers that were factory available for 70 GTO's with the vac. operated exhaust?I dont know how rare an option it was but they used a vac.solenoid to pull the inner tube out of the way to the second chamber in the muff. for a some what straight through for the exhaust.

ST,

I saw a '70 that had this option at the GTOAA nationals in Columbus this summer. I took a picture of the "info board" that was in front of the car ...

(PS - Is "Lanc NY" Lancaster, just outside of Buffalo? I'm originally from Rochester and had been to the race track there a few times. Great place!!)

Wow thats pretty rare. But back to the Q,does anyone know of anyplace making reproductions of these mufflers.

Yes that is Lanc outside of Buff.I've been meaning to change that as I now reside in the city.Still race at LMP when I can though.

There are no reproduction parts for the VOE system. It is so rare, only a handfull of parts ever survived and I don't know anyone that has a complete system to use for a pattern.

Only car I have ever seen with this option. Try getting them to take it off.....so I can borrow it for a while.

CCass if you are planning to reproduce these and that is why your trying to "borrow"one for awhile I could look for a design pattent on one to get the specs if you like.I would be interested in getting a couple of these.I want to put my car on the road one of these days and thought this would be a niffty little trick to have on a street rod.

Yea, I got a `70 gto convert. 4 speed that was optioned with the VOE( under resto now), there is a guy that makes a system that does this but it is different than the original, I will either go with that or try to engineer one myself!?

We have the VOE II mufflers completed and will be trying them possibly Sunday March 23. If all goes well, we may also be recording the sounds for others to hear. See related posts on VOE mufflers for more details.
