I am currently looking at purchasing a 1970 PHS docunented Judge. The car had a pontiac service replacement block installed in 1979
the number that have been found so far are B123 which I am told means the block is a 1973 pontiaac block
the block also has the number SR87638 stamped on the front of it.
can anyone tell me if the is a correct ram air III block Any help would be appreciated

Sorry for forgetting about this post, until now. My 1970 Judges' engine was replaced with a service replacement engine in late 1975. It was cast on A053 and the casting number was wiped and stamped with number 9799915. My SR number is about 1200 earlier than the one you gave.

Is it a 4-bolt main?

I'm assuming it is. I've never had it apart. Block part number on order was 479878.

my '69 Judge had its block replaced at the Pontiac dealership shortly after it was sold according to the history I dug up. Although the heads, intake, carburetor etc are all proper date codes, the block has NO numbers on the front pad at all. It is blank. The rest of the story (including the fact that the secondary air valve on the Q jet was soldered shut when I bought it from the second owner in 1981) is pretty interesting but too long for here.

Correction, bought it in 1980 not 1981. Oh well.
