the GC on my firebird is pretty low, especially with the long tubes it has on it. What can I switch to to gain a little bit of clearance?

Doug's Headers...
When installed the collectors mount up close to the floor pan providing you with optimum ground clearance.

Doug's do sit up much higher. I had a set of Hooker Super Comp's. Had to weld a skid plate on the bottom because they sat so low. Put the Doug's on and the don't have a scratch on them yet.

One of our fellow forum members is having a series of tri-y headers produced specifically for lowered f-body cars.
Haven't heard from him in several weeks so maybe he is still in the process of manufacture.
Pricing on them is to be $375 to $400 range.

Doug's Headers will provide you with superior ground clearance while increasing your performance, bolt on, and don't leak. They are the best buy by far.

Like B-Man said. Call Ace at Pacific Performance Racing or you can order them from Performance Years as well.

Hmmm, how about a set that the road racers used with the four pipes into a flat/ side by side collector arrangement? It provides at least 2 more inches. I think you would have to get them made, but didn't there used to be some made just out of the box? Maybe 15 years ago? If so, who knows if you could find any.
