Im also interested in those rims.I was wondering what H.P. and vehicle weight were needed to warrant going to bead locks.I heard around 1500 H.P.Would there be a safety issue if you ran 1500-1600 H.P. on a rim with screws and the vehicle weighing 3600 pounds?

I talked to a few Super Gas guys (9.90 index) who just switched to beadlock wheels. They said they had better lights, better 60 ft times (despite the added weight of the beadlock rims) and the car is more stable all the way down the track.

Went to the NHRA Columbus national event last weekend, nearly everyone had beadlocks. Kinda tells you something right there.

I have seen some of the Super Stock racers make the move to bead locks. They are expensive. on a 15 inch wide Weld Wheel they are about $800.00 more per wheel.

You can get your rims done for $800 a set. I have the titanium nuts and bolts that are around $300.

They work two ways. By maintaining your gear ratio in first gear by keeping the tire side wall up thus allowing you to get down the track further in first and even second gear.

Secondly, by reducing tire spin because you arent increasing your gear multiplication. Tire flattening on launch will significantly increase your overall gear ratio at launch.

Not to mention consistency.

Lynn, Who does them for $800? That's better than the best price I can find. I want to convert my Weld Magnums. Thanks

Scott,

I converted my Weld 16x16 rims over the winter. There is a place in Cali. called Champion Beadlocks that converted mine. $525 for a 16" rim. My rims were converted and delivered within 7 days. I have been very happy with the quality and result. Alittle more than $800 for a pair but still much cheaper than buying new.
