hi, just bought this 63 parissean with a 455 y8 block and turbo 400 trans i was wondering if any one can tell me if this was the sd455 the other numbers i have are 500813 behind no 8 cylinder 6h heads with date code jo35, behind the dizzy g165, we were looking in a book over here {australia} and the only y8 code we could find was a 74 455sd if it isnt a sd block whats the best street/race cam and heads i can put in it ive also got a pair of 6x heads on a 350 which may be worth putting on maybe thanks drill

Y8 is also the block code for a 1976 455 block. It's obvious that's it's a 76 motor by the date codes and the 6H heads. Really nothing special about it but an excellent starting point! Need to know more of your performance desires before any cam recommendations can be made.

I found the Y8 block was used in 73' and 74' 455SD motors with an automatic trans.

thanks for your repleys , i guess i,ve got to hot it up if its only 200hp i want to get about double that , what do u suggest , its going on the street ,but i still want it to kick u back in the seat its coming out of the parissean and going into my 77 firebird, i have a 350 y9 block in it now which is 170 hp how come only 30 hp difference, what do reckon?
