Hi I have a 1971 455 HO motor I'm just about to fire up.
Everybody is telling me that the no.1 cylinder is on the left hand side. The problem I have is that the forword cylinder is on the right hand side. I know it's a HO because of the cast code on the block. Can anyone help, this is not a regular Pontiac motor |

gary no.1 cly is on the drivers side. but it is the seconed rod on the crank. no.2 is the first rod on the crank. this is how pontiac engines were designed, there all like this. gary do you need a 71 455 ho intake like new? #650.00 no heat cross over. charliek455@aol.com thanks

Uhhhhhhhhh, you are in Australia so that would be the passengers side for you. Drivers side in USA.
ALSO distributor rotor rotates COUNTER CLOCKWISE. So be sure you have it wired correctly.
