Just finished checking over my 428 block and as I said before looks like I will be boring it. This is what the final plan is at this point. 428 block,7K3 heads, stock rods and crank,RAIII cam,1.5 roller rockers, roller chain,Q-jet on a factory manifold and headers, Nothing to fancy just for street driving. ? is can I run 400 pistons in this thing with out alot of problems or should I pay 900$ for 428 pistons? IF I can get 400's to work( Flat Tops } what would be the compression? What is the centre line of the pin to top distance on a 400 as apposed to a 428? Dont want them hitting the head deck using the 428 rods.

The rods are the same, but the pin height on a 400 piston is different than a 428. 400 pistons won't work with a 428 crank. Pin height is also different on 455 pistons. KB may make a 428 piston but you'll have to ask around for whats available.

You can always call Heath at 540-962-0500. They are in Virgina and they sell the KB's for less than $300 shipped for the 428. I am sure Dude and KRE,etc probably have reasonable priced pistons as well.
