has anyone replaced the trunk floor in a 74-81 firebird and if so how much work did it take ?
i have to replace whats left of mine with a after market version and thats about the only thing i've never done before. thanks for any help you can give me with this. |

I've never replaced an entire pan. I did section in a piece on my car. Cut out the bad chunk, took it to the salvage yard, cut out the good chunk, slightly larger than the bad. I then lipped the edge of the hole where the bad section came out and fitted the new section in. Then I started stitch welding it in, moving frequently to avoid warping the metal.
For a complete pan I'd tell you to look for seams and try to cut and match the new section as close to those as possible.

i don't have a welder, i was going to braze it in,
do you think it would hold as well ?? |

I wouldn't braze that panel, since in a Firebird, its structural. Find someone with a MIG, or buy a MIG and do it yourself.

Yes, it needs to be welded in. You need some type of wire welder. Stick welders will blow through that thin metal, no matter how low you set the power.
