Looking good

What kind of electric water pump would you use with that timing cover? SBC?

Why the switch from a stock timing cover?

None for me, I'm running this block without coolant (blown alcohol race only).

A stock timing cover does not allow for mounting a cam driven fuel pump like the Moon cover does.

Better than drinking coffee in your motorhome while your car is on the trailer.

The offset is a Dunn, made by Mike Dunn of Dunn Services. Going to run a Mallory Super Mag III.

The crank pulley/hub. Who made that for you Brian?

Mike Cooper had some problems from his supplier. LOL!

The crank hub and timing ring is all one piece. It's an RCD piece I puchased "over the counter" from J.R. at RBS Superchargers. It's meant to fit a 429/460 Ford but fits the Pontiac snout just fine.

The pulley is a used piece I bought off the internet, I forget the manufacturer.

Over the pulley is a mandrel, which is also an "over the counter" RBS piece I got from J.R. This is used in conjunction with a bearing which will be mounted to a plate that "floats" out in front of the pulley to support the crank snout. The mandrel bolts to the hub with the pulley sandwhich between it and the hub. Jon and I will be designing our own plate to mount the bearing to, just need to figure out the best approach to mount it over to the block using 4 or 6 fasteners. I'm thinking the four lowest fasteners in the front of the timing cover to build the trees off of, with two additional trees at the bottom running to the forwardmost pan bolts that are still on the "flat" of the block (and not into the timing cover). It's either that or using four trees and tying them into the front motorplate, but I'm skeptical about that, given that the plate is 1/4" aluminum.

See additional pics, and here's a link to what the RCD unit for Chevies looks like:

Off the top of my head, I don't remember. I ordered the pistons and ring package from PontiacDude Ken Keefer. He took good care of me.

It'll be good for 1500+ HP, but I'll only be somewhere between 1000-1200 HP. The chassis it is going in will only certify to 7.50 and at 2300 max lbs. race weight that's all the power it'll need. What you don't see in the pics are the BME aluminum rods and a billet crank.

Ok I see. I don´t think that short block will give you any bigger trouble at that power level. Providing that it has a sufficient oiling system.
Will you be running it next year?

Hope to have it ready for Pontiacs in the Park 2007 at VMP. Scott Rex is pushing 1200 naturally aspirated HP with his combo, turning 8500 rpm. This one will be turning much less rpm. I've no qualms about its survivability, particularly with an average cylinder wall thickness of just over .400"

Besides tha alky, how are you adressing the heat/head sealing issue with the two exhaust valves 3-5 and 4-6?
