Question CONSOLE VACUUM GAUGE & SHIFTER QUESTION

Hi Guys,A couple questions about a 66 gto...Any pics & answers would be appreciated.(1) I'd like to find out the proper routing & connection of the vacuum hose from the console to the engine compartment (2)The throw on my shifter goes too far forward & it hits the lower part of the console bezel...Can the shifter be adjusted to bring the reverse location of the stick back far enough to avoid it hitting? I thank you for your time & knowledge....."Pete"
P.S Does anyone have any radio knobs in nice condition for a 66 gto they want to sell

The shifter itself is adjustable on the transmission. Two bolts hold it to the transmission shifter plate, one is a pivot, and one slides in an arc. The bottom bolt is the pivot whereas the top travels in an arc. I am not sure how easily the top bolt is accessed from underneath the car. I hope this helps. If you adjust it too "far" back it may hit the console estouchon. -Jesse

I ran my hose thru the steering coloumn hole in the firewall. Works fine and was easy. It might not be correct though.

If your shifter is worn-out it will hit the console no matter what you do. If you do not have the original factory shifter, yes; the stick will hit. If you have the wrong linkage &/or lever(s) on the transmission, that will also cause it to hit. If you have the wrong mounting plate, yes it will hit. Everything has to be adjusted AND 100% perfect, (tite) on your shifter with ALL original factory parts for it to clear the bezel in '64 thru '67 GTOs with console option!
