Default Glove Box Lock Replacement

I am a little embarrassed by this one but….I purchased a new keyed lock set for my trunk and glove box and have replaced the trunk lock.

I took the glove box door off and can not figure out how to disassemble the latch and lock tumbler to replace the lock internals’. The Bird is a 1971. Can anyone help? Thanks.

That article assumes you HAVE a key, at which point, why replace the LOCK??
Havning spent most of my time on 1st gen F bodys, I still cant get one apart that needs dye on the door, WITHOUT a key,

In his case I think he was replacing a broken or missing trunk lock and possibly door locks as well, so by replacing the glove box lock with one thats keyed the same as the new trunk and doors, he just has one round key and one square key as the car came with new.

I haven't removed one without a key, but here's a step by step from the Chevelle boards:

I just used these instructions to get me glove box lock out (without a key) and it worked great. Thanks for the info RicksGTO

I eventually got to ricks post and the pic above for mine too, was helpfull. Now to unload a few non ac glovebox doors I have!!
