Default 78 TA - Brake Caliper Recommendations

Any recommendations on brake calipers for a 78 Trans Am. OE is not important. Reliability is most important, followed by performance. I see a lot of reman'd brake calipers including Cardone, Bendix and Raybestos, as well as some new calipers distributed by Motormite and Bendix. Any particular brand better, or should be avoided?

I definitely don't mind upgrading the front calipers and I don't mind spending some extra money on them, but whatever I buy needs to be reliable, drop-in replacement, and perform at least on par with OE.

Recommendations? Anybody out there upgraded their front calipers and have a positive experience?

I run Wilwood GM III aluminum calipers. They are new and lighter than stock. The are around $100 each and you will need new lines as the factory lines won't bolt to them.

I am very pleased with them and the reduced unsprung weight made a difference on ride quality. The calipers are a direct bolt on.

I am running SSBC twin piston aluminum calipers with Raybestos ceramic pads and crossdrilled/slotted rotors on my 78 Trans Am. The braking performance is superb, but I had to change the wheels, as the calipers would not fit inside the original 1978 snowflake wheels. However, the calipers will fit inside a 1979 and later snowflake wheel.
