New Guy - help w/ Vent Window Adjustment
Hey all -
I'm an FNG on the forum. Had my '67 LeMans since '97. I'm finally fixing my dry-rotted vent window moldings, which have needed replacing for YEARS. Under-dash and inside-door stuff makes my blood pressure rise though... :-) And here's why:
So, I've taken out the glass, replaced the rubber pieces around the glass and also put in a new piece of molding in the channel where the main door glass runs. Now though, I go to put the vent window back in, and it's too loose. What did I do? I'm fairly certain I didn't lose anything in disassembly. I have attached a picture of the hardware that came off the adjustment screw on my vent window.
Basically, what happens is I have no tension in the window now. So if I was driving, the wind would just blow it shut. Also, if I push down on the window now, the little nipple on the top side of the window that holds it in place will just pop out of it's hole. And if I try to tighten down the adjusting nut to give myself more tension on the window, this problem only gets worse - actually, if I tighten down too much, the upper nipple on the window doesn't even seat itself at all.
Not sure what I did wrong here; maybe it's something in the sequence in which I put it all back together? Or did I do something to the geometry of the window?
