Default Are there two different yellows?

Is there a differance between code 51 yellowrod paint in 1977 and code 51 sundance yellow in 1978. Did pontiac just change the name of the paint or was the color altered. Thanks.

Your best bet would be to run those codes past your local auto paint store, unless someone here has the info. I have seen many colors used between different car mfgs too.

I can tell you that yellows are simular to reds, in that they don't cover very well. If you paint a car with gray sealer underneath & one with White. You might have two slightly different color cars, with the same code.

Just because the same paint code is used in different years does NOT mean that the color is EXACTLY the same.
Sometimes it is,but to be sure, you would need to have the mixing formulas for your code checked for BOTH years

The 77 had an orange tint to it. The 78 was a bright yellow. Heres a link to an old picture of my 78 T/A.
