Default Seat tracks relocation ?

I got my two front bucket seats back from the upholstery shop today and installed them in the car, which previously did not have any seats installed when I bought the car. My problem is that... with the front driver's seat adjusted all the way back, there is still not enough leg room for me to sit comfortably. I'm 6-1" to be exact. I can relocate the holes in the floor for the seat tracks and install a 1/4" thick piece of metal to support the back part of the seat tracks. My question is... how far back should I relocate the holes for the tracks to be able to sit comfortably? It looks to be between 2-4" to allow for that extra leg room. Has anybody done this modification before and can give me an idea of how many inches i need to move the seat tracks back? Thanks in advance for your help.

Someone sells extendors, so no need to move or fabricate. Hopefully someone can chime in where to get them (maybe check with our sponsor).

i'm 6'4"
When I replaced the floor pans in my 'bird, I cut out the seat support from the frame brace that holds the capture nut.
I welded in the frame brace in the stock location and the seat support about 2". Anything further back and it wouldn't work. It looks stock, but really really helps.

Of course this was a lot of work and not for the faint of heart.

2" really helps though. Tilt wheel, even more!

Get the repro seat extenders - they work very nicely.

Our sponser sells them, but are not listed as being in stock at the moment. PN RFI40E, $59.00 (pair. Drivers seat only). They also sell passenger and bench seat extenders.

Here they are:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/67-69...spagenameZWDVW

Bill Edmunds (known as FirebirdBill or EarlyBrds on the FGF board) is the manufacturer. They are perfect - period.

They are e-coated but you can purchase them in stainless steel, too. If you like you could contact him at EarlyBrds@aol.com

Regards

Thomas

I too found that the seat wasn't far enough back for me so I bought a set from Bill Edmunds. They are very nice and work great.
