MACHO T/A
Hello, I was wondering if there is any possible way to tell from the VIN if a T/A was ever a MACHO that someone had taken all the good stuff off of. I found a suspect that used to have a Turbo 301 engine in it. The top end has been stripped away. I don,t see any of the DKM emblems anywhere and the spoiler isn't tagged as a MACHO or #d it's flat black. It does have all the other things such as the oversized swaybars Hooker dual Cat no muffler exhaust and a 5 spd man trans. ect. Thanx

No, there's no way to tell by the VIN. Machos were an aftermarket tuner car built by DKM, Inc... as such the factory had nothing to do with them.
I do know that they didn't make too many 301T Machos, so if it is one it'd be pretty rare. However, I'm pretty sure they didn't put the 5spds in the 301T cars... but I could be wrong. You might want to contact Dennis Mecham at http://www.mechamperformance.com/ and see if he can tell you anything about it.

Macho TA's were modified by Mecham Pontiac. As such most were originaly delivered to Mecham Pontiac and would show this on the PHS. After that you would need to contact Dennis Mecham or Rob Thomas to have the vin verified as an original Macho TA (they both have dkm records).
