Default Steering wheel adjustment question

I recently replaced my stock steering column, on my 67 GTO with a Ididit steeing column. Everything went well with that, but now I don't have the steering wheel indexed right when I'm going straight down the road. I also have a Grant steering wheel and adaptor. It's only a couple degrees off, but I think if I rotate the adaptor a notch, it will be to much. I was thinking about making an adjustment with the tie rod ends, but before I get into that, I was wondering if that should be the way to go or not. Any help would be appreciated.

That's the way an alignment shop would do it.

It is mandatory that the mark on top of the steering column be exactly on top when the front wheels are centered. You must correct errors by adjusting tie rods, not moving the steering wheel a notch or two.

The reason for this is the backlash designed into the steering box when it is turned off center. The exact center of travel is where there is minimum backlash. Anywhere else in its range of motion will have backlash and the car will not steer properly.
