Default All forward gears only????

1982 TransAm.305 engine,700r4 trans.All of a sudden my reverse is forward gear,NO neutral,feels like it is in two gears at once while in PARK.......???????What the heck???? Any ideas,HELLLLLPPPP....!!!!!!!!!!

If it's an 82 (1st year of the 700R4), drop the pan and you will find that the little clip that holds the link to the manual valve has broken. If that is what happened, you need to update to the 83-up design linkgage set up. You could put another clip on it until you get updated parts. It is just a throttle rod clip that should be axvailable at a good parts store, if there are any of those left!.

Thanks!!!! Dropped the pan and found EXACTLY what you said,damn remnants of clip in pan,valve hanging loose! Clipped it for eternity with a paper clip (!) and BANG-ZOOM she's all better,reverse and all!!!! LOL........Thanks a LOT! John.
