I `m tired of high rpm at the higway, and want change the 400 with a 200 R4. Is it someone who have done this, and does i nead to modify much here. I Understand i have to make the driveshaft longer, but what about the shift linkage ? will it work like bolt on ?
Is it someone here who know how much longer the driveshaft should be ?Is it other opiniun about this, or is it someone with bad experience, let me hear

I would switch to lower rear end gears. My 2.56 rear end gives me 65-70 mph at 2100 rpm.
Some have had success with the 200r4. The one in my 83 Olds 98 can barely handle the Olds 307. They seem to last longer if you don't use the overdrive. If you have level roads you might get away with it. Around here with our hills, that tranny wouldn't last 5000 miles behind a big Pontiac. |

Use an adapter plate and a 700r4, It's a stronger trans and will be less troublesome.
The 2004r's a time bomb waiting to happen no matter how it's built up. Mike
