2010 Trans-Am???
Well, this is better than nothing. I'm sure it'll be a high dollar option (if it really does come out) since it's coming from ASC, but I guess at this point it is literally better than nothing. Here's the link to the complete story. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/07/a...vrolet-camaro/ |

it's a start.i'd like to see the rear quarter vents gone and either 69 or 70-81 fender vents used.front bumper needs the grills set back in like the 70's.wheels need to go also.maybe the 17's that yearone did that look like the 78 snowflakes.would like to see pontiac on the back panel like the 70-73 birds,or if they want to use the bird emblem like the 67-69's go with the 69 trans am hood and rear spoiler.
there was a guy that had done a picture set of a new trans am.now his i really liked.

The Trans am is DEAD!
Deal with it. Just what we need, another re-incarnation like the (sales disaster) GTO??? |

not just Trans Am, Pontiac will be dead before the year is out! Would you really want a 2010 "TA" that had a Chevy VIN and title?

they need to round the edges on the fender and quarter tops and get the front end slimmed down, the front end just isn't long enough. Just really won't work enough to be able to shed the stigma of being a dressed up camaro. of course, there will be those who will buy it. RIP Pontiac, JZD and long hood/short deck styling.

Looks more like a new Challenger.
They whupped the horse, finally killed it, now days later we have a from the grave Frankenbird................. I think a shaker on the roof of a Smart Car, with flares and spoilers, would fool most people.....

You guys are a tough sell. I'd say I do like the one posted by eaglesan a little better than this, but not by much. The biggest detractors for me are the lack of front fender vents, and the way the grill and headlight bezels wrap back around onto the bumper. I think they managed to do the contours of the hood and front bumper better than the one in eaglesans pic. The other detractor is not using some type of updated honeycomb.
This is not that far off from no Poncho engine T/A's since '82 and the WS6 cars were already being done by ASC in recent years. Nothing will ever beat having a full Poncho line-up with a heart and soul of a Poncho, but this is certainly better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. |

OK,...I like it,.....mostly. I agree it needs some type of frt fender air extractors. But to me, the worst thing is those hideous rectangular headlamps. They need to be round or at least roundish, in some style of clear aero housing.

I dont like all the 2nd gen style on a 1st gen looking car..
They need 2 make it look more like the 67-69 cars...

I think this version fits better with the existing body shape of the Camaro. The ASC car definitely looks too much like a cross between a Mustang and a Challenger with the blunt nose.

I like that one also. If they built it I would buy one.

Let's see, it's faster and better handling than any Trans Am built before it.
Even with just an average driver the 426 HP 6.2 liter LS3 is good for 13-flat 1/4 mile times at 110 MPH right off the showroom floor. With a good driver and good tires it's easily a low-12s car. Imagine this ride if and when the 550+ HP supercharged 6.2 that's slated for the Z-28 makes it under the hood. And it looks pretty good as-is but I agree on the Mustang-esque side scoops. If you're not happy with them the wheels on any car can easily be changed. I like it. It's not for an old-school Trans Am purist, but its a good looking car and I think ASC has the right idea here. Besides, like it or not the Firebird started out as a Camaro in the beginning. The new LS-series engines from GM Powertrain are nothing less than a pushrod-marvel. I'd drive it. Hard. |
