Question '69 SJ Grand Prix Value

Going to look at a supposed 390 horse 428 GP next week that runs and drives. According to owner who is car guy, the GP would be an easy restore--not much rust. Any ballpark figures on what to offer or pay if it is legit and solid body with matching numbers? Thanks in advance.

as little as possible.i say that because depending how far you want to go to restore ,it adds up quickly on these cars. 2500.00 -4500.00.

that's excellent advice. Buy a done car if you can.

"...not much rust...' sounds scary, esp if it has a vinyl top. Here in Canada, such a car needeing minimal restoration, i.e. that is perhaps only paint and some interior/mechanical work would be in the $5000 CAN range, make sure everything is solid no bubbling under the vinyl; I've seen football size holes in the metal under a tough looking vinyl top. That said, a 390 HP GP is a rare find, and a beautiful car when nicely done up. Good Luck!!. Ben

pay less than 5k for a solid original car and you'll be good.

These are great cars and a hoot to drive. You'll find the chassis will hook better than a GTO and lower 60's means quicker ET's.

Drive it and you'll be hooked.

That's no lie. Grand Prixs seem to get lonely and soon you'll have multiples!

Thanks guys for the input. At least I have a starting point if we get to the negotiating stage. Any production numbers on the 370 and/or 390 horse versions of the 428 engine in GP's for 1969?

Yeah, I'm in the process of getting my 5th GP!!! 390 hp GP is quite rare, esp in the SJ version.About 123,000 69's were made; of that I think about 12,000 were SJ; most of which were the 370 hp 428. Someone here will have the exact number. Ben.
