NGK Plugs:
I am looking for a colder NGK 3/8" reach, 14mm gasket seat, 13/16" hex spark plug with a least a .060" gap, for an early 092 Pontiac head. This was a common plug on late model Oldsmobile’s, but they were also a very hot plug, with R46SX and R46SZ being the most common.
It's been a while since I built an Olds, but IIRC, the NGK equivalent of the R45SX would be an XR45 or a Denso W14PR-U15, but these are a fairly hot, number 4 (NGK) heat range, IIRC. I'm looking to go colder, if possible, yet maintain the .060" gap. Can anyone confirm this and identify a source??? Nothing local here....Robert Last edited by Z Code 400; 12-30-2009 at 09:56 PM. |

I don`t think NGK makes a cold plug like that with that wide of a gap.

The heat range might be OK, but I will have to check the colors. I prefer .080" gaps, but they are hard to find. I use a zero-resistence bushing in the HEI when running .060" or .080" gaps. I saw a huge drop in HC's when switching to the .080" gap and throttle response seemed much better too...Robert |
