I assume you don't want to cut a hole in the inner fender to access it?
I always hate to see when that has been done to a car. I access the blower or heater core by removing the inner panel only, leaving the fender in place. I know of those who advocate removing the fender, but I think this is a mistake as it is sometimes difficult to realign the fender. This is how I do it: Raise the car and support on jackstands under the front control arms. Remove the right front wheel. Remove all the bolts from the inner panel, there are a lot of them. Rotate the inner panel up and in to disengage it from the lip of the fender wheel opening. It may be necessary to remove the two fender bolts at bottom rear of the fender. Be sure to note the location of shims, and replace them in the same location. Roll the inner panel down and out from under the fender. It is now easy to access the blower motor without any damage done. This would be a good time to replace the heater core. It is accessed from under the dash. It is a bigger job than the blower motor, but if it started leaking next week, you would wish you had done it. Be sure to at least replace the lower heater hose, as it is easily accessed with the inner panel removed. Hope that helps. |

your advice was dead on the inner fender rolled out and was very easy to clean and replace still dont see how cutting the iner fender as the manual states would of helped but not important now my question is how do you get the heater core out - as im learning the 75 manual and the 76 supplement have a lot to be desired any help would be greatly appricated |

It seems like I remember that years ago J.C. Whitney and a few other places carried a stamped piece the was made to cover the cutout piece of the inner fender. I also would remove the inner fender before I would cut my car.
