Default 1969 TA Convertable

I just received Mecums monthly in the mail. It appears there will be a 69 TA convertable at his Spring Indy auction. I wonder if its the same car I watched sell at Rockford in the mid 90's for $150,000. What it will bring? Any guesses?

A lot more than that if it's not a clone.

There wasn't a description, just a photo. It had a orange 1969 Ill. plate on it. Dana's Pontiac collection will also be on the block. It includes several early 60s SDs

Could be Rob Lozens' Bird from around here. He has a vast Pontiac collection stored away, several 69 T/A's, and I think his 69 ragtop was the one from the Belvidere auction back around 1998. Rob's car was appraised at $1.X million at last year's Cruisin' Tigers Pontiac show, which Dana Mecum also attended. Could be the same car...

Or it's one of the rare 1 of 1,485 clone T/A ragtops, which when you think about it, is still pretty rare.

I remember the auction well. $150,000 was record money. In comparison we bought a 36,000 mile mint condition GT500 for $26,000 there. That one would have been one to have kept also. Who knew the car market was going to expand that much.

if you are talking about robs t/a convert, 150k wasnt record money, the guy who sold it took quite a nice loss on it.

Word is it cost him 35K more than that to buy it. Cost him 5k for not cutting the deal quick enough.

Default real TA convert or...?

So...is this indeed a real TA convert up for auction this spring or are we still in conjecture mode?

'Moe' is friends with Rob so we should be able to confirm/deny if indeed Rob's TA convertible will be up for sale.

Is Rob's a TH400? Whoever owns it, I am hoping its a real 1/8 TA Convertible (vs a clone).

Look at the PHS
They block out the vin number on the top of it
but leave it on the botton right corner
