with the black wheels and tires looks like a moonshine car.
the 3 on the tree is neet. I wonder if they had to pay extra for that being a Bonneville.

3 on the tree would be less expensive than the standard hydramatic, since its the base model tranny setup.. odd on a bonne for sure though. cool car . I wonder if it is a bondo bucket with a repaint.. yes

Apparently it is not. I spoke with the owner aboiut a week ago and it is a Cali car I believe he said. He was asking $13000 for it if I remember correctly (there was another different craigslist posting). I spoke to him because I was trying to get info about the 3 spd setup (same as what's going into my convertible (original)). This would be a 3spd HD setup as it is the Bonneville and I believe all bonnies had the HD due to the extra weight. (cats had it with the higher HP engines, usually 4bbl).

iirc the top loader did not come out until 65. Is it the Borg Warner t-85?

Yes it should be the T-89 HD 3 spd (not positive and he didn't know either...wasn't really interested in crawling under the car to check and I can't go see it for myself). The toploader was a rare option in late 64 and was the standard HD in 65 or so my research tells me. I have found someone else with a B.W. 3 spd out of a 63 bonneville and it's the T-89. (still trying to work out a deal on it).

What were the regular duty 3 speeds for 62?

It would have been a 4 bolt side cover, I'm not sure if it's a muncie 318 or 319 or a saginaw. I believe it's the mucie. If the information I have found is correct GM provided the same case to both companies. I have one of these in my basement out of a 64 Tempest. I was going to use it but decided to go with the HD as I have located all the linkages and the engine in my Catalina is a higher HP one and a 4bbl.

That's pretty cool. I pulled one out of a 62 Cat and kept the trans for a friend. I don't know what the hell it is

Default T-85

My 61 Bonneville came stock with a HD T-85. I just completely rebuilt it at a cost of $1600.00. Parts are available but some what hard to find. Engine is a 318 HP tripower with a 342 rear.
