Unhappy 68 GTO Timing cover

I am looking for a timing cover to fit a 400 pontiac engine. I spung a leak during Hot August Nights in Reno Nevada, once I took it off I found it was eaten away and cannot be repaired. It would be nice to find another one.
Or has anyone had any success installing anything else. All help and advice would be appreciated.

Dave, what year engine/timing cover do you currently have. I must have 20+ covers. Post your part number (front center) to help determine what you need. Kurt

replacing your radiator drain plug with a sacrificial anode will keep that from happening again. my '68 timing cover was trashed from electrolysis, so i went with the 11 bolt swap; glad i did. if you're not trying to stay original, i'd recommend it.

btw, welcome to the site!

ive seen the ones that drop in where the cap is, but never a drain plug version.

The real problem to pit the cover could be from too fast of coolant passing thru causing cavatation or electrolosys from a bad ground somewhere and the coolant becomes the ground.

Default 68 GTO timing cover

Just snapped upa replacement cover on E-bay for a reasonable price. Once the new one is installed I am going to install a anode. Thanks for the help and technical advice.
Summit Racing has the anode.
